        'Part of the reason for making (in fact a very large part of the reason) is to see things that I have never seen before - to build something that I can not fully understand or explain.'

        Ceramic artist Ken Eastman's studio work is known for its hand built and decorated vessels, which explore shape, structure, tone and colour. The pieces in this collection are the result of a collaboration between Eastman and the Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company, which began in 2006. Working together, they have developed new forms in bone china and discovered new ways of decorating these. A key source of inspiration for Eastman was the rich pattern manuscripts held in the Derby factory archives, which he reworked into beautiful new compositions on specially built forms in his Herefordshire studio.

        Pieces from the collection are held in the permanent collections of the V&A, and can be seen in the Ceramics Galleries.
