Framed Pigeon Collage by Andrew Malone

Framed Pigeon Collage by Andrew Malone

Framed Pigeon Collage by Andrew Malone

      • Product Description:

A framed collage combining vintage matchboxes and painstakingly cut out elements from books and postage stamps. The matchboxes are found at boot-fairs and charity shops with many originating in Eastern Europe and some dating from the 1950’s. Each collage is meticulously created by Andrew who carefully selects and unites each matchbox with a cut out element to produce these unique and intricate pieces. Mounted in an oak box frame. As these prints are hand made, there may be some small variation to each framed collage.

Andrew Malone lives and works in Whitstable, Kent.
Andrew is a regular exhibitor at national and international artist book fairs. His work is in the Tate Britain collection and many Artists Book collections in the UK, Europe and Russia.

Andrew Malone: 'I have a strong attachment to the natural world and a nostalgia for how collecting started for me. Had I lived in a different era I have no doubt that I would have been an egg-collecting country gentlemen dressed in tweeds with cases of stuffed birds and trays of insects and birds eggs or worked in the vaults of a museum. The Observer’s and Ladybird books, cigarette cards, maps, stamps and matchboxes that I use to make my work come from a more innocent age when I would pore over them by night and be out in the countryside looking for their contents by day. My work is a continuation of that obsession with collecting, cataloging and observing”

        Made in the UK.
