      • Product Description: Earthenware jar/vase with hand-painted lustre decoration. Design adapted from an original Vase by William De Morgan, Fulham Factory, 1888-98.

        This collection of beautiful contemporary lustreware has been createdexclusively for the V&A by Spanish potter Arturo Mora, takinginspiration from the 19th century lustreware of William De Morgan,Walter Crane, John Pearson and Frederick Passenger. De Morgan was particularly inspired by Iznik and Spanish lustrewares on display atThe South Kensington Museum, now the V&A.

        Mora hails from Manises, near Valencia, which is historically one ofthe most important centres for Spanish pottery production. Descendedfrom a long line of potters, Arturo works entirely in the traditionalmethods passed down through generations. Invented in Iran in the 9thcentury, the rich 'lustre' comes from an overglazing decoration whichuses metallic pigments, creating a wonderfully shiny surface.

        Each piece has been inspired by an original 19th century object in the V&A's extensive ceramics collection.
