        Ceramic Object by Denise Hoyle

We are delighted to offer as part of our British Design season and range a very limited number of ceramics made by Denise Hoyle in the 1960s and 1970s.

Although Denise Hoyle has not had formal art training, she lived with artists during the 1960s in Great Bardfield, Essex. Hoyle moved to the UK from France as a young woman to marry the artist and printmaker Walter Hoyle (1922 - 2000). They lived and worked with other artists living near them in Essex, part of the Great Bardfield Group composed of Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious, Bernard Cheese and Michael Rothenstein to name a few. The group was diverse in style but shared a love of figurative art. Her surroundings lead Hoyle to discover a natural artistic talent where she made ceramics, collages and later paintings typical of the groups aesthetic.

Each piece of ceramic is unique. Made in Britain.
