V&A Small Wooden Print Block (Assorted Designs)

Printing images with an engraved wooden block was one of the earliest methods of transferring multiple copies of a design to paper or textile. Though modern methods have taken over to a large extent, wood block technique is still a popular form of printing throughout the world.

The V&A are offering an assortment of original deep wooden print blocks partly in recognition of this important art form, but not least because they make attractive objects in themselves.

Featuring Aesthetic and Arts and Crafts motifs from the V&A's collections, adapted from a selection of well-known designs by William Morris, C.F.A. Voysey and Walter Crane and others.
