Edward Bawden Diary

Edward Bawden Diary

      • Product Description:

Originally produced in 1953, this charming cloth-covered perpetual diary, with a week to view, features a line drawing by Edward Bawden on every spread. Delightful sketches of London landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey feature alongside rural and urban scenes throughout England including village cricket in Essex, bicycles in Oxford, rooftops in Brighton, waterside in Ipswich and academic life in Cambridge. Bound in real cloth with a ribbon marker, this beautiful diary and notebook makes a perfect gift.

Edward Bawden (1903–1989) was born in Essex and studied at the School of Art in Cambridge and the Royal College of Art, where he was taught by Paul Nash. As well as landscape paintings and linocuts, Bawden worked on book illustrations and commercial graphics. During the Second World War he served as an Official War Artist.
