William Morris Needlepoint (Hardback)

William Morris Needlepoint (Hardback)

William Morris Needlepoint (Hardback)

      • Product Description: British needlework designer Beth Russsell presents over 20 needlepoint designs based on the original works of William Morris. With the help of beautiful photographs, the book reflects Morris's passion for the pre-industrial world as it evolved through the three stages of Morris's artistic development. Detailed charts and clear instructions allow the reader to join in Morris' ethos of 'Art for the many' and to recreate some of his magnificent works.

        From the Author
"Very many kind people have written to me requesting a copy of William Morris Needlepoint since it went prematurely out of print in 1999. I am therefore delighted with this new revised edition. It has given me the opportunity to include an extra design to complete the trio of `Artichokes'. I have also included a conversion table for threads, something I have longed to do. It enables the designs to be used by those who prefer to stitch in stranded cottons rather than wools. In addition to Morris's genius I have been fortunate to be able to draw on the brilliance of Jan Baldwin's photography and Ethan Danielson's charts. You will find some new reference photographs to indicate the source and the development of the designs.

I particularly hope that the reader will find the synopsis of Morris's life both interesting and touching." - Beth Russell
