      • Product Description:

Willy Lott's House, near Flatford Mill
        John Constable (1776–1837)
        Oil on paper
        Britain, about 1811

Our reproductions of Constable’s oil sketches are designed to show the original edges of the paper or canvas he painted on.  They are giclée printed on Monte Carlo 300gsm paper, a premium mould-made paper manufactured at a UK paper mill using traditional methods.

Outdoor sketching was central to Constable’s working method. These incredible sketches capture the changes of weather and light in the British countryside. They demonstrate Constable’s innovative and poetic evocations of land, sea and sky.  His naturalistic representation of the landscape and use of broad brushstrokes and impasto technique challenged conventions and brought the genre of outdoor oil sketching to a new level of refinement.

Supplied flat, in a board backed cello bag.

This print is also available to buy pre-framed.
