V&A Guide
Price: £5.00
The Victoria & Albert Museum - known as the V&A - is the world's greatest museum of art and design. It was established in 1852 to make works of art available to all and to inspire British designers and manufacturers. It gained its current name in 1899 when Quen Victoria laid the foundation stone of a new wing and renamed the Museum in memory of her husband, Prince Albert.

The Museum's rich and diverse collections span over two thousand years of human creativity, in virtually every medium and from many parts of the world. These colections are now undergoing a dramatic programme of renewal and restoration. Within the V&A's splendid Victorian interiors are new displays that are both beautiful and stimulating.

This short guide provides an introduction to the wonders of the V&A. You can use it to plan yor visit, or enjoy it at home. There will always be new corners to explore, new things to see.

The guide is divided into two sections. The first takes you on two tours of the Museum, each looking at ten objects and lasting about an hour. The second part of the book highlights some of the V&A's galleries. It is arranged in four parts to reflect the different aspects of the Museum's collections.
