Fashion and style have been central to the V&A since the very beginning. The museum’s collection includes dress from the 17th century right up to the present day, with an emphasis on progressive, influential design.
Many of today’s most important designers – Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, John Galliano – continue to find inspiration in the collections, while the shop provides a constantly changing showcase for collaborations with both established and emerging names.
